WHO ARE WE?

The Alan Bott Centre is a York based charity set up to help people with

multiple sclerosis and similar neurological conditions. The charity is named

after Alan Bott who was a member of the local MS branch for many years

and did much to enhance MS facilities in York, including the building of the

first MS Respite Care Centre in 1990 (sadly now closed).

The charity is run by six trustees, all unpaid, and is supported by around 40

volunteers who work in our charity shop, drive our vehicles or act as escorts when we are taking people on

holiday.

WHAT DO WE DO?

The charity’s main aim is to help organise holiday breaks. Currently it does this by working with other charitable organisations:

1.   The Royal Air Forces Association has two hotels, located at Rothbury Northumberland and Lytham St Annes Lancashire, both providing holiday breaks with care support. These hotels are of a very high standard offering full board breaks running Tuesday to Tuesday.

2.   Leuchie House, near North Berwick, offers holiday breaks for people with a wider range of disabilities as nursing care is also included. Holidays run normally for a 11 day period commencing Mondays, but shorter stays are available if required.

3.   Bempton Holidays, near Filey, offers self catering holidays for families with facilities for people with disabilities. Holiday breaks can be for a week, a weekend or mid-week break.

AND FINALLY, we are currently looking to add a fourth holiday location for 2017, so watch this space!!

Offers free transport to its holiday locations where ever possible. When not possible the charity provides funding towards transport costs.
